Movie Review of Zombiemania (2008)

Directed by: Donna Davies

A 2008 tv documentary Starz presents Zombiemania Directed by Donna Davies who according to her imdb page has worked exclusively on tv documentaries. This zombumentary has interviews with special fx artists Tom Savini and Greg Nicotero, and while we’re name dropping an interview with George Romero, and Max Brooks.

If you’re not familiar with the name Max Brooks, I’m sure you’re familiar with his work. Maybe you’ve heard of a book called the Zombie Survival Guide, yep that’s him. Brooks is also the author of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War which hit New York Times bestseller list.

The documentary is not anything new or special, but if you’re like me you enjoy hearing anybody talk horror. Some interesting conversations about zombie history, the future of zombies, pre and post Night of the living dead (Zombie milestone), and the best weapons to use in a zombie outbreak, *hint it’s probably not what you’d think.  Also some talk of preparations to take in case of a zombie outbreak.

Of course being a zombie enthusiast, you will be sad to see scenes from 28 days later (not a zombie movie), but most of the other info given is pretty solid. Keep in mind that this zombumentary is pretty mainstream, so if you’re looking to find some rare zombie flicks you’re looking in the wrong place. Overall I enjoyed watching Zombiemania, and would recommend it if you have an hour to Kill.
